Products composition:

Tento malý keř s oranžovo-červenými plody je pěstován v sušších oblastech Indie a Nepálu.  Pro terapeutické využití se používají usušené a na prášek rozemleté hlízy.

V rostlině bylo až dosud nalezeno více než 80 různých biologicky aktivních látek, především steroidní laktony a alkaloidy, mezi nimiž je hlavní withanin, dále fytosteroly, flavonoidy, saponiny , oligosacharidy a tanniny. Tyto jsou důvodem širokého rozsahu medicinálních účinků.

Působení ašvagandy zvyšuje psychickou a fyzickou odolnost organismu. Pomáhá při léčení zánětlivých onemocnění, nachlazení a astmatu. Používá se jako afrodisiakum a je jí připisován vliv na zvýšení plodnosti.
